Spotlight: OPI Holland Collection Spring/Summer 2012

I received word yesterday about OPI's upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 Holland Collection and wanted to share the details with all of your ;)

The collection is a mix of spring- and summer-appropriate shades!

A Roll in the Hague
Color description (from OPI): Take advantage of this frisky little orange.

My opinion: I'm interested to see this orange in person, but generally I'm a fan of orange nails :)

Did You 'ear About Van Gogh
Color description (from OPI): Rumor has it ... this sandy bisque is a work of art.

My opinion: I can't lie, I find the name of this shadow a little more tasteless than funny. Yes, we all know Van Gogh cut off his own ear (though some question if it was the whole ear), but I think the bigger part of the picture is the fact that he was not only an artistic genius, but a very troubled one. I don't know, this just kind of bothers me. Anyway, on another note I'm really unsure of the color choice. Van Gogh painted just beautiful paintings, I wouldn't have chosen a bisque as his signature color.

Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?
Color description (from OPI): All of Holland hollers for this crowd-pleasing plum.

Gouda Gouda Two Shoes
Color description (from OPI): Take a walk on the wild side with this robust rose.

My opinion: From the images I think this will probably be one I don't purchase. I'm not a huge fan of dusty rose.

I Don't Give a Rotterdam!
Color description: This sassy steal-blue shimmer means business!

My opinion: This almost reminds me of the color of blue jeans, I'm undecided on this one.

I Have a Herring Problem
Color description (from OPI): What's that you say? I need to "sea" this shimmery green-blue?

My opinion: This is another I'll have to see in person before judging whether or not I like it.

Kiss Me on My Tuplips
Color description (from OPI): A smooch-worthy shade of hot pink.

My opinion: Despite the name of this polish causing me to raise a slightly amused eyebrow, you know I'm always down for a hot pink polish!

Pedal Faster Suzi!
Color description (From OPI): This pink lavendar shimmer will have you "wheeling".

My opinion: I'm a fan of pink so as long as this skews more pink than lavender I'll probably pick this up as well!

Red Lights Ahead ... Where?
Color description (from OPI): This coral-packed red is the hottest in the district.

My opinion: I'm a huge fan of coral and red polishes, so this is a yes for me! I wish they'd just called it Red Light District and been done with it though :)

Thanks a WindMillion
Color description (from OPI): You totally deserve this breezy sea green.

My opinion: I may change my opinion once I see it in person, but this is reminiscent to me of an OPI On Stranger Tides color. Or perhaps one of the China Glaze nautical ones. I guess we'll see!

Color description (From OPI): A deep purple for a divine diva.

My opinion: I don't wear a lot of plum polishes in the spring/summer because to me warmer months = hot,, hot colors, but I'd still like to see this in person.

Wooden Shoe Like to Know?
Color description (from OPI): It's no secret, everybody loves this shimmery chocolate-brown.

My opinion: I'm not a big fan of brown nail polish in general, but for those that do this may be a fun color.

Release Date
February 8, 2012

These limited edition polishes will sell for $8.50 suggested retail.

Where to Buy
The Holland Collection by OPI will be at the following retailers: professional salons, Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard's, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA.

Final Thoughts
There are a few polishes (Kiss Me on the Tulips, Red Lights Ahead ... Where?, and possibly Pedal Faster Suzi!) that I definitely plan to buy. The rest I'd like to see swatches of before purchasing.
What do you think?

  1. I see a pattern here with you: You're obsessed with Nailpolish, lipgloss and eyeshadow. In that order?

  2. Ironically, I'm obsessed with eyeshadow, lip gloss/lipstick, and nail polish in that order haha. I get a lot of PR announcements from nail polish companies though ;) I couldn't live without eye makeup!
