MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencil 2015
For those of you that loved MAC's limited edition Patentpolish lip pencils released in previous collections you can collectively sigh with relief because the formula has now been made permanent! I have a handful of swatches and a recap on the formula for those interested in these gel-like pencils.
Don't forget to enter our big Back to School Beauty International Giveaway! We're giving away a handful of MAC lippies, shadows and goodies from other high-end brands.
MAC released their Patentpolish lip pencils in a dedicated collection this year and unlike previous collections, they're here to stay in 14 glossy shades. I previously reviewed the formula during the spring of last year, so make sure to check that out if you're curious about how these perform and apply.
Price: $20 retail
Where to Buy: MAC/MACCosmetics.com and MAC counters
I have a partial collection set of swatches for you. Since these are permanent, I'll try to add the other swatches later on!
MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencil 2015 Swatches - Go for Girlie, Teen Dream, Fearless, Kittenish, Hopelessly Devoted
All swatches were done on moisturized, bare lips. Unlike most other lip formulas, I actually prefer to apply these directly from the tube so that they can melt a bit onto the lips. They are ever so slightly tacky when first applied, but this fades with wear. For those who have trouble with feathering on their lips like I do (yay 30s), I suggest using a clear lip liner around the perimeter of your lips to prevent the slight halo effect these can have with wear.
Overall, great formula, easy to apply and very easy to travel with since they're self-sharpening.
MAC Patentpolish Go for Girlie - yellow-based pink
MAC Patentpolish Teen Dream - creamy orange-coral
MAC Patentpolish Fearless - medium blue-based pink
MAC Patentpolish Kittenish - tea rose pink (very natural looking on lips)
MAC Patentpolish Hopelessly Devoted - raspberry pink (reminds me of a raspberry popsicle!)
I'm glad to see these added to the permanent line. I definitely think they have a place since there are no other permanent lippies quite like them. The formula is very comfortable to wear and the finish is really nice. I think these are a great option for layering as well as for those who want an easy-to-apply lippy that requires little fuss.
I think the permanent range has a decent selection of shades ranging from nudes to vampy, which is nice to see.
Have you tried MAC's Patentpolish lip pencils? What did you think?
