Milani is a well-known drugstore brand that creates everything from eyeliner to polish. They often feature some of the most on-trend colors and products.

Milani has released a new limited edition collection of their famous rose printed blushes for Spring and they should be popping up this month in select Walgreens! I've swatched and reviewed all 4 below in case you're interested in snapping a few up.

Limited Edition Spring 2014 Milani Coming Up Roses Collection

Product Type

These are limited edition matte pressed blushes with infused with crushed rose petals. They are meant for all skin types and meant to be used to contour, highlight and flush cheeks.

Shades

This collection includes 4 shades:
  • Coral Cove - vibrant coral
  • Lady Rouge - reddened pink
  • Love Potion - fuchsia pink
  • Tea Rose - muted rose
All swatches were applied heavily on naked skin. In order to get this type of pigmentation on your cheek you'd have to be quite heavy-handed.

On the Cheek

Sadly, while the colors and stamped surfaces are lovely in the pans, these blushes performed poorly for me. Coral Cove and Tea Rose were incredibly soft and powdery, yet slipped and remained super powder on the skin. Lady Rouge and Love Potion were super hard and it was difficult to get an adequate amount of product on the brush--both were dry and patchy once applied. My swatches above took a lot of addition passes and time in order to build up enough opacity to be able to show you a decent amount of color and for some reason they actually look better in the swatches than they appear in person.

Final Thoughts

While I can understand wanting these if you collected the launch of rose blushes last year, I honestly wouldn't recommend these for any other reason. The performance was poor, which was incredibly unfortunate given how pretty the shades were. I'm sad to say it, but I simply can't recommend these based on my experience. If you're simply determined to make these work I would recommend prepping your face beforehand and using a brush that picks up powder incredibly well. Expect to have to use a lot more effort to get an even, well-blended finish.

What do you think?

  2. I'd def recommend buying some of their other blushes if you're looking for drugstore blushes. I'm not sure why these performed so poorly, but they have others that are better :)

    1. I think the colors are gorgeous, which made it that much sadder the texture was so off for me :/ Can't deny they're pretty in the packaging tho!
