manuka doctor skin care review bee venom

Manuka Doctor Profile

Manuka Doctor is a line of skin care that promotes "healthy" beauty by using natural ingredients, avoiding harsh chemicals and genetically modified ingredients, and by including bee-friendly harvested Purified Bee Venom and royal jelly in their products. They have 3 different lines of skin care--ApiClear, ApiNourish and ApiRevive--which each target different skin types and needs.

I am a huge fan of natural bee and honey products and find they often work well on my sensitive skin. I have 1 product from the ApiNourish line and 1 product from the ApiClear line to share with you, which I have been reviewing the last couple weeks. These are obviously not vegan products for those of you that prefer vegan skin care.

Where to Buy

Manuka Doctor products are available through their site as well as on a limited basis through Sephora/Sephora.com

Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Rejuvenating Face Mask Review

manuka doctor apinourish rejuvenating face mask review royal jelly bee venom natural skin care

Product Type

This is a face mask meant to nourish and renew skin while stimulating collagen growth. According to Manuka Doctor it includes Purified Bee Venom, Manuka Honey, Royal Jelly, Rosehip and Blackcurrant oil.

Scent

This has a pleasant floral-like scent that does not smell synthetic or chemically. It is very subtle once on your face and I didn't notice it after a few moments of wearing this mask.

On the Face

When using this mask you apply a thin layer over your face and neck after cleansing. This smooths on like a nice thick face cream. I had some slight tingling at first upon application, but that subsided within a few minutes. This mask is meant to be worn for 30 minutes total. During the course of that time I did feel some slight tightening, but nothing extreme or uncomfortable by any means. Once 30 minutes passed, I removed this mask by gently wiping it away with a cloth and warm water. I found I had very little mask left on my face by the end of 30 minutes and what was left easily wiped away.

Ingredients

Manuka Honey, Propolis Extract, Purified Bee Venom, Royal Jelly, Kaolin Light Clay, Rosehip Seed Oil, Blackcurrant Seed Oil, Vitamin E, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter.

Price

This face mask retails for $84.50 on Manuka's site and $85 at Sephora/Sephora.com (50 mL/1.69 fl oz)

Where to Buy

Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Rejuvenating Face Mask is available directly through Manuka Doctor's site as well as through Sephora/Sephora.com.

My Thoughts

Despite being very careful with my skin, my face (which is very sensitive) takes a little bit of a beating with all of the products I review on a monthly basis. Lately, I've felt as though my skin has been a tad irritated and less even in texture than usual. Using this mask noticeably smoothed and hydrated my face! My skin looked and felt smoother and firmer--definitely more hydrated. Given that this is effective and made completely of natural ingredients (including royal jelly and purified bee venom--both of which tend to be expensive ingredients) I think it's well worth the price; especially given that this is only meant to be used 2x per week and it takes little to cover your entire face. I highly recommend this if it suits your budget and you need something to give your face a bit of a boost, especially now that temps are dropping and skin is going to need some extra care in most cases!

Manuka Doctor ApiClear Skin Serum Review

manuka doctor apiclear skin serum review bee venom royal jelly natural skin care

Product Type

This is a hydrating, oil-free serum meant for those with trouble skin. It is meant to moisturize and even out skin while reducing the appearance of scars after 3 weeks of consistent use.

Scent

This has a pleasant floral scent to it. It is not super strong and faded quickly once applied.

On the Face

This serum is gel-like in consistency and easily smooths into the face. I used this during the same period of time I used the ApiNourish Rejuvenating Face Mask. I had no irritation with this and found it helped boost my regular face cream. My skin is dry and I found that using this with my regular face cream was best for my skin hydration-wise.

Ingredients

Purified Bee Venom, Manuka Honey & Royal Jelly, Hyaluronic Acid, Glucosamine, Marigold Extract, Roman Chamomile Extract.

Price

This serum retails for $39.90 (30 mL/1.01 fl oz)

Where to Buy

Manuka Doctor ApiClear Skin Serum can be purchased directly through Manuka Doctor's site

My Thoughts

While I don't have trouble skin, I have found that now that I've hit 30 my skin is a tad more finicky--especially once a month. I don't get major break-outs, but I will get a few blemishes--which is not something I've really had to deal with before. The texture of my skin is also less smooth and even if I don't pay really good attention to it. While my skin is dry enough I could not forego using my normal face cream while using this, I did find that using this serum in addition to my face cream kept my face hydrated. Overall, my skin was significantly smoother, more even and brighter while using this serum in addition to the ApiNourish Rejuvenating Face Mask. Judging by the ingredients in this serum, I'm not surprised this has skin-calming and clearing affects!

While I can't attest to how this would work for someone with major skin trouble, I can say that it was very effective for me. I have a sister with trouble skin and I'm going to recommend this to her as she's had little luck with anything else so far. I highly recommend this if it sounds like something your skin could benefit from!

Have you tried products with bee venom or royal jelly in them before? Would you try Manuka Doctor skin care?
