Limited Edition Milani Sparkling Mascara Top Coat Swatches and Review

Product Type

This is a glitter top coat meant to be worn on your lashes over your mascara. The glitter is fairly small in size and it comes in a gel base.

Scent

This top coat has a slight perfume-y apple like scent to it. Strangely enough, I actually like scented mascaras as long as they're subtle--weird, I know!

Shades

This sparkling mascara top coat comes in 3 shades:
  • Golden Eyes - gold glitter
  • Silver Gaze - silver glitter
  • Bronze Glare - bronze glitter
These were very hard to capture on my lashes because they tend to catch the light and draw attention, but given their size they're not that easy to see in still shots. I managed to get one shot where you can see Silver Gaze on my upper lashes. I'm wearing Golden Eyes on the outer half of my lower lashes and Bronze Glare on the inner half of my lower lashes, but it's harder to see those two.

On the Lash

The base of this top coat reminds me a little bit of Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Genius waterproof top coat (which I love and use regularly), though I'm not under the impression this is meant to waterproof mascaras. It's a clear gel that doesn't harden lashes too much once dry. The glitter does not overload lashes and can be built up from a slight sprinkle to a more obvious glitz. In the picture above I did about 4 or 5 passes total on my upper lashes so that it would be as obvious as possible. I did notice that the glitter slightly reflected in the outer perimeters of my vision when applied nearer to the base of my lashes. I would recommend applying it near the ends only if this could potentially be distracting to you.

My Thoughts

I think this is a really cute holiday top coat for lashes! It's subtle enough that you're not going to look like you rummaged through a tween's makeup collection to do up your face, but sparkly enough for a little something extra. The formula itself is easy to work with and doesn't make lashes super crunch or cause them to stick together (always a plus in my book). I recommend grabbing one or all of these before they're no longer available if you want a little glitter this holiday season!

What do you think? Would you try any of these glittery top coats on your lashes?

    1. I thought so, too! But given they're eye products I'm glad they're not larger I guess!
