Besame Cosmetics Profile
Besame is a cosmetic company with an authentic vintage feel founded by Gabriela Hernandez. Gabriela has a strong background in a number of art mediums and her attention to detail in her products and packaging is phenomenal. Given that the 40s have heavily influenced this line, I've been a long-time fan as this is one of the periods in time that has always inspired me most from a makeup perspective.

The packaging on this product is gorgeous! The lid has a fairly close fit so it suctions down onto the base firmly. You may have seen this in the Academy-Award winning film--The Artist! Have you seen it? I saw it earlier this year and loved it.

Besame Cosmetics Classic Color Lipstick in Besame Red Swatches and Review
Product Type
These are light-weight formulas meant to have a semi-matte finish and skin beneficial ingredients. Colors are reproductions of actual lipstick shades warn during the Golden Age of Hollywood--my biggest makeup inspiration ever!
Shade
![]() |
Besame Red - a vibrant, blue-based red. It is actually slightly cooler than I was able to capture (less warm) |
On the Lip
This is an incredibly creamy formula that is very light-weight and not at all drying. It has a semi-matte finish--which I love. I found the pigmentation in this lipstick to be fabulous and easily achieved opacity with 1 layer. Besame Cosmetics lipsticks have squared edges similar to other brands I regularly use. While I apply my lipstick with a brush 99% of the time, I do find the squared-off style of these lipsticks to be easy to use right out of the tube if that's your preference.

Besame Cosmetics Lipstick Sampler Review
![]() |
L to R: Merlot & Cherry Red, Dusty Rose & Exotic Pink |
Product Type
These are adorable little matchbook style lipstick samples Besame Cosmetics offers so that you can sample their lipsticks prior to purchasing full tubes.
Use
The little lipstick "matches" have a bit of product on the end (if using a brush you could probably get at least 2 applications out of each "match") and the little booklet flap can be folded back in to reseal it. While I'm not sure how these would hold up during extreme heat in your purse, these are a great way to try out Besame shades for a reasonable price!
Price
Each Besame Lipstick Sampler retails for $5.

My Thoughts
I'm in love with the vintage feel and look of these products--let's be honest, they had me at the Golden Age of Hollywood! Their performance is fabulous to boot. The details on each product (packaging and actual product) I reviewed were fabulous! These are the kinds of products I love to look at almost as much as I love to wear them--the type you want to set up on your makeup table or vanity rather than tuck into a drawer. I strongly recommend checking out Besame Cosmetics and the gorgeous products they have to offer!
I have to get my hands on their lipsticks in Exotic Pink and Bold Pink to add to my collection--Christmas list!

I'm not sure I'll have a chance in the next few weeks given all the other stuff I'm working on reviewing, but if I get a minute I'll try!
