Moore Tornado Hit Close to Home at BeautyPopShop - Can you Help?

Update: (5/23/2013)We have stopped the giveaway fundraiser early as we reached $305 donated and felt between that and what we were able to give that we would be able to sufficiently help my dad get through the aftermath of the tornado in Moore. Winners of the giveaway have been drawn and we are BEYOND grateful to those that supported our efforts. My dad was incredibly shocked and humbled and is grateful to each person. He was very embarrassed to even need any help and didn't expect any. The way I've always looked at things, people are people no matter how old or young; things happen outside our control and there's nothing wrong with needing help or accepting it when people are willing to offer it. We personally try to help others when we can and we're floored so many people were willing to help us. Sometimes you feel as though your efforts are just a drop in a giant ocean, but individuals really do make a difference on their own and together. Thank you a million times from the bottoms of our hearts. You are all AMAZING! <3

Most of you know what has gone on in Moore, OK. The tornado that devastated this area along with quite a few others has been horrific ... and that's putting it lightly. Though we are located in New England, my (Doria) father moved down to Oklahoma City several years ago for work. He is/was actually located in Moore. While thankfully the tornado's edge stopped about a block (literally) away from where he lives, his entire area is completely ravaged and people have been forced to leave their homes due to damage, lack of power, lack or water, etc. We spent the better part of last night trying to maintain communication with him over text and feeding him information as little to now made it through to much of his area. Phones are down, internet is down, cell phones were touch and go. Priority for shelters is being given to those with families and to those whose homes were demolished. While my father's home still stands, there is no electricity and no water. It is unfit for someone his age (62) to remain and as of right now, no solid estimates on when all of that will be up and running again have been provided. Sadly due to priority being given and over-crowding in shelters he's been forced to stay in a nearby motel, which for now, has power and water. While the first night was free, they are actually having those forced to stay there pay. A few food stations had been created last we checked around Oklahoma City but getting to them is hard and again, there is huge demand. Traffic was gridlocked last night as people tried to get out of their homes and neighborhoods.

We are doing what we can to help and we know times are tough, but as we regularly give to other causes we hoped some would be willing to help us with ours. We are trying to raise funds to help my father (who is on his own down there) stay in the motel he's currently located in until a more viable solution can be found...if there is one to find. As a thank-you to those that donate, we will hold an international giveaway (specifically for those that donate) and 1 randomly chosen winner will win a prize that includes: 1 bottle of Maya H2pOp (a BeautyPopShop exclusive), 1 bottle of limited edition Glitter Gal Transfusion, 1 bottle of limited edition Glitter Gal Hot Chili, 1 tube of MAC Feel My Pulse lipstick, 1 jar of Concrete Minerals Charm School, and 1 jar of Concrete Minerals Bulletproof. And because we are so incredibly humbled and thankful for those willing to donate, we have added a second prize of 1 set of our exclusive Sonnetarium Moonlight Fight sailor moon-inspired polishes--Daydreams & Moonbeams, Crescent Kitty, Dark & Darien. These are some of our best selling polishes and very hard to get a hold of. Thank you so incredibly much to all that have or plan to donate!

This giveaway was originally set to end in several days, but we've decreased it to end at midnight tonight (the 22nd) in hopes he will be able to return home this week or we can figure something else out by then if he can't. We obviously don't want people to donate more than we can make due without. Thank you so much for your continued support it is AMAZING.
